Chives come back reliably every spring with almost no input, making them one of the lowest-maintenance herbs you can grow.

Chives are a low-maintenance perennial herb that dies back in winter and returns reliably each spring, needing little beyond an occasional split when clumps get congested. Trimming off the flower heads once they fade keeps leaf production going for longer.
